What You'll Love About Our Groups

Small and intimate
We keep the number of allowed participants very small to make sure you're receiving high quality care and attention. Attendance is required, but your level of participation is entirely up to you. Our groups are interaction, live sessions - not webinars - and recordings are not permitted, supporting a truly hands-on experience.

Balanced learning, practice and application
Our well-balanced approach offers theoretical knowledge as well as plenty of opportunities for hands-on practice and application.
Each meeting holds two dedicated sections:

Learning Lab: Dedicated to education and understanding
Practice Lounge: Dedicated to practicing, experimenting, and applying new skills while receiving real-time feedback

Increased accountability
Our groups run for a set number of predetermined number of weeks, and attendance is required. Knowing you're expected to show up for each meeting coupled with the support of fellow members who are counting on you adds another layer of motivation and accountability. This encourages you to show up, be consistent, and make meaningful progress toward your goals.

A nice introduction if you're not sure where to start
Our groups provide a supportive and structured environment for those who know they want to improve but aren't sure where to begin. Our group format offers a welcoming and less intensive yet impactful way to start setting personalized communication goals while having the opportunity to practice and make progress along the way.

Level up your practice
Many professionals can be hesitant to try out newly learned skills in a high-stakes environment, like the workplace, without first having mastered them. However, we know that practice is key, and rehearsing in front of a mirror only goes so far.

Practicing in front of multiple people can raise the stakes but within the context of a safe space that is separate from your target environment, allowing you to build confidence and refine your skills until you feel ready.

The group
offers a safe space to experiment with new techniques while receiving constructive, supportive feedback. With this format, you'll be working alongside individuals who are attending to similar techniques, and so you'll not only learn by doing, but also by observing.

A great way to maximize a budget
Our group offerings are a great option when working within a budget. The clinician's time resources can be shared among participants offering a more affordable solution while still remaining small enough to deliver attentive care.

Still eligible for insurance coverage
That's right! Our groups are facilitated by Registered Speech-Language Pathologists. If you are an Ontario resident, you can submit your receipts to your third-party insurance provider under 'speech therapy' or 'paramedical services'.

Is participation required?

Attendance is required for our small and intimate groups, but how you participate is up to you!

What do I need in order to become a participant?

  • You must be an Ontario resident, aged 18+ to be eligible

  • You must have access to a device to connect to our online video meetings (e.g. laptop, tablet, smart phone)

  • You must have completed the registration process, including the consent and intake forms, the sharing of your prescreen materials, and submitted payment

Will recordings of the meetings be provided?

To protect the privacy of all group members, recordings of any kind are not permitted.

Can I use an alias during the group meetings?

Participants are welcome to use an alias during group meetings so long as the full and correct preferred and legal names are included privately on your registration and consent forms.

What type of material will be provided?

Groups will be focused on differing topic areas. Since our groups focus on hands-on learning and participation, you won't receive formal slides or lecture-style presentations. Instead, you can expect written materials for reference during the Learning Labs along with assigned home practice exercises designed to help you apply what you're learning.

What if I can’t attend a meeting?

Full attendance is required for all meetings. We are unable to provide refunds or reimbursements for missed sessions.

Will insurance cover this?

Since the groups are facilitated by Registered Speech-Language Pathologists, Ontario residents may submit their invoices to their third-party insurance under “speech therapy” or “paramedical”. We recommend checking with your insurance provider about budgets or requirements as we do not have access to this information. We do not do direct billing. OHIP does not cover Speech-Language Pathology services.

Can you tell me more about payment, cancellations and refunds?

Attendance is required for each meeting, and refunds or reimbursements will not be provided for missed meetings, no shows or late cancellations. We require at least 24 hours notice prior to the first meeting for cancellations. You'll receive a payment receipt once your registration payment is processed, and you'll receive an invoice following each meeting with any information necessary for insurance purposes. Your group registration fee is due in full and can be made by credit card or Interac E-transfer. If for any reason facilitation of the group becomes unfeasible, any processed registration fees will be refunded.
